International Orchesta Visits Woodston

“WE OPEN HEARTS, MINDS AND EARS TO THE EXTRAORDINARY.”-Britten Sinfonia

Britten Sinfonia is a chamber orchestra rooted in the East of England, where it is the only professional orchestra working throughout the region. It also has a national and international reputation as one of the best ensembles playing today.

We were delighted to welcome them to school for a concert for KS2 children, allowing them to experience the sound and feel of a real orchestra! As the musicians played, art was created! It was truly a magical experience; one we hope the children will remember forever.

Thank you to Mrs Roberts for organising this for us!

The children often say things better than the adults...here are their thoughts on this wonderful concert:

"It was amazing how James Mayhew was painting in time with the music. He was never late to finish! The musicians’ timing and speed was incredible to watch too." Evelyn

"It was amazing to watch how the painting developed at the same time as the music. It helped me picture the story and the timings of the music." Tino

"It shocked me when James Mayhew turned the picture upside down right at the end to reveal another picture. It was very smart!" Mia

"It was an unforgettable moment and I really enjoyed it." Grace

"I loved how James Mayhew was painting in the same tempo as the music. He has inspired me to go home and paint!" Violet

"I found the musicians brilliant. They should never give up!" Omar

"I really liked how confident the musicians were. They were always focused despite the big crowd! Their timing was amazing." Jazmin

"I liked how the painting told the story. As the music played, more of the painting was complete." Alfie
