Year 2

What a super start to the year! Year 2 have dived into the story of hero Traction Man by Mini Grey. We have already learnt to apply lots of new words in our writing and enjoyed using exciting adjectives. We’ve linked to the text by investigating outfit materials suitable for the main character to wear for his underwater missions. As artists, we have explored primary and secondary colours by mixing and creating tints and shades. We will produce our own paintings inspired by The Great Fire of London (our History topic). We are enjoying learning about key facts and people from this event in the past. In RE, we have focused on important signs and symbols across religions and then become familiar with features within a Christian Church. We are learning to ask useful questions in all areas of the curriculum. As mathematicians, we have extended our knowledge of place value by flexibly partitioning tens and ones within a 2-digit number. We continue to apply our skills to compare, order, add and subtract numbers up to 100. In Computing, we are learning about what IT is and how it is used within school and the wider world. In PSHE lessons, we have reflected on how to settle well and manage our emotions. We are looking forward to lots more fun together in the term ahead!
