Year 3

The year has got off to a great start! We are really enjoying our book, The Tin Forest, and have already written some fabulous diaries, setting descriptions and poetry. We can’t tell you the name of our next text as it will ruin the surprise, but we can promise you that it is brilliant book filled with mystery and adventure! It is Miss Brough’s favourite book to share with children!

In Maths, we are getting to grips with place value of 3-digit numbers in readiness for tacking addition and subtraction later this term. All children have done a gig on Times Tables Rock Stars so their accounts are perfectly levelled for them and their needs, offering the right challenge for them to improve their times tables knowledge. Please encourage your children to go on TTRS as regularly as possible!

Science is helping us to understand light- what it is, how it travels and how we see. History has us travelling back to the Stone Age, Bronze Age and Iron Age to learn how we developed from hunter-gatherer nomads to settled farmers. In RE, we are learning about the beliefs and practices of Hinduism.

Thank you for completing the paper reading records again- it is great to see so much reading happening at home! We encourage children to change their books independently when they have finished a book. We also love to see what children read at home from their own collections so please record those books in the records too.

Thank you for all of your support.
