Year 6

In Year 6 this term, we are looking at the polar regions with Antarctica being our main focus. Our class book to start the term off is Shackleton’s Journey. We will look at the hardships faced by Shackleton and his crew on their quest to cross one of the most hostile environments on Earth: Antarctica.

In Science, we will be looking at electricity, how to make circuits, how energy flows around a circuit and different types of circuits (parallel and series). We will combine this Science knowledge to work in DT when we design and make a flashlight (also linked to Shackleton’s Journey).

For Geography, we will be looking at the polar regions and the different wildlife that lives there. We will look at countries in the Arctic circle and why the Polar Ice and sea caps are important.
